Naturcharc compost, five years of circular economy

The Naturcharc family celebrates an important anniversary in September. In 2021, five years have passed since the start-up of the organic compost plant, which was a great leap in quality for the company’s products and a prime example of a circular economy.

The knowledge of the best Swiss technicians, together with the tradition and experience in managing the land that the Giménez family has treasured over three generations, developed the perfect combination of the use of natural resources and sustainability. In fact, these are the values that are applied every day on Naturcharc farms.

Naturcharc’s organic compost plant, with more than 20,000 square meters dedicated to the 100% natural generation of this product, was considered a pioneer installation in Andalusia in 2016. Since then collaborating with the development of organic agriculture in the province of Almería and the region.

Five years later, Naturcharc is self-sufficient with its own organic compost. This brings great advantages, although the main one is the saving of water resources in crops thanks to the humidity provided by the compost. In addition to being a nutrient for our soils, organic compost fulfills another very important function as a regulator for the water that the soil needs. In this way, every drop of irrigation is used to the maximum.

The Naturcharc compost “recipe”

The production of our organic compost is governed by a studied process in which innovation is added to tradition to favor maximum respect for the environment. All under the philosophy that inspires the Naturcharc family: “What comes from the earth must return to the earth.”

  1. The ingredients: The base of our compost is in all the usable organic materials that are generated in Naturcharc’s own farms. Everything is reused; the plant remains once the crops are harvested, straw and the organic crop surplus, among other elements of natural origin. Nothing goes to waste and everything has a second life (or more) at Naturcharc.
  2. The mixture: The elements that will be transformed into compost are moistened and mixed with specific machinery to speed up the process and make it as efficient as possible. In this way, a compact mix is achieved, key to the final concentration of nutrients in the compost.
  3. Monitoring and control: The entire process is meticulously supervised by specialist technicians. The monitored humidity and temperature are part of the success in the elaboration of the composted material.
  4. Final product: After a period of six to eight weeks, nature has done its job giving rise to a first quality organic compost to nourish our soils, thus closing a circular economy process in which savings and sustainability go hand in hand to respect the planet as much as possible and offer the highest quality in Naturcharc organic fruit and vegetables.
